Seahawks end practice after DE Branden Jackson knocked unconscious – ESPN

SEATTLE– The Seattle Seahawks cut their skirmish short on Saturday after defensive end Branden Jackson was knocked unconscious, coach Pete Carroll stated.
Replays revealed Jacksons helmet hitting that of offending take on Cedric Ogbuehi as the 2 engaged at the line of scrimmage. Jackson fell to the turf and remained there for several minutes before the teams medical personnel strapped him onto a backboard, with the face mask eliminated from his helmet, and loaded him into an ambulance.
Jackson gained back consciousness and has feeling in his legs and arms, according to a source. He was required to the hospital as a safety measure.
” I didnt capture the replay, but he struck heads, I think, with Cedric and it may have caught him in the chin with his helmet, and it was like a knockout punch is what it was,” Carroll stated. “So we took all the safety measures and took care of him. He had movement and all that type of things, but we still needed to do the right thing and completely look after him up until we understand more.”

1 RelatedThe play occurred simply before what would have been halftime of the Seahawks very first scrimmage of training school at CenturyLink Field. Carroll said they ended the scrimmage early out of regard for Jackson, calling him “among our all-time people, preferred people.”
” I didnt believe it was ideal to attempt to get everyone cranked back up again and go back out,” he stated. Well take the plays that we got and what we learned from it.
The 27-year-old Jackson is entering his 5th NFL season. He went undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2016, spending his novice season with the Raiders and the past three with Seattle. He has been contending for a lineup area as one of the Seahawks rotational protective ends.
” Im hoping that hell be OK,” quarterback Russell Wilson said, adding, “I believe hell be OK, it sounds like.”
According to statistics supplied by the Seahawks, Wilson went 8-of-13 with a touchdown in his 2 drives, both coming versus Seattles No. 2 defense. His goal pass was to large receiver DK Metcalf.
The Seahawks have two more scrimmages set up over the next eight days.
” We didnt get an entire bunch of plays today, but we got series and we got situations and we got enough 3rd downs to challenge Russ and the offense over there, so there was some really advantages that took place,” Carroll said. “Everything went actually well besides that we got BJ knocked out. That was awfully unfortunate.”
