Dungeons & & Dragons is getting a brand-new book of rules, subclasses, and mechanics this fall, Wizards of the Coast revealed on Monday. The book, entitled Tashas Cauldron of Whatever, follows in the tradition of 2017s Xanathars Guide to Everything, adding fresh gameplay options to the existing setting rather than a brand-new setting.
Also like Xanthars Guide, Tashas Cauldron provides its material with commentary, observations, and snark of a storyteller character. This time, rather of a floating crime manager with several eyestalks, its the creator of Tashas Hideous Laughter who works as the guide.

Tashas Cauldron will not have any new classes, however will rather use up a collection of brand-new subclasses for every released class in 5th edition. These subclasses are all drawn from the extensively play-tested Unearthed Arcana column on the D&D site. There will be new spells too– including a minimum of one created by Tasha herself– and magic products to drop into your video game.
For those behind the screen, Tashas Cauldron will have a section for Dungeon Masters with magical environments and setting-agnostic puzzles. Fans will likewise see the return of the group patrons concept– non-player characters who money and guide travelers– from Eberron: Rising from the Last War, but de-Eberron-ed for any setting.

The most interesting and crucial statement about Tashas Cauldron is a brand-new and comprehensive set of guidelines for character creation. Tashas Cauldron uses an alternate set of character creation rules that will do simply that. While the character development guidelines are still readily available in 2014s Players Handbook for anyone who desires to use them, Tashas will decouple race and origin from their 5th edition mechanics.
Tashas Cauldron of Everything will be released on Nov. 17, and will feature cover art by Magali Villeneuve. An alternate (and apparently Easter egg-filled) cover will be offered just in stores with art by Wylie Beckert.
