With Lopez and Rodriguez out of the bidding war, its anticipated that billionaire hedge fund supervisor Steve Cohen will complete a deal to acquire the Mets in the coming days, according to CNBC.
“Alex and I are so disappointed!! We worked so hard the previous 6 months with the imagine becoming the first minority couple and the very first female owner to purchase her fathers favorite Major League Baseball team with her own tough made money. We still have not provided up!!” Lopez composed on Instagram.
Cohen had supposedly been close to finalizing a deal to obtain the team for about $2.6 billion in 2019.

The singer/actress and previous Yankee star, who led a group of investors to purchase the Major League Baseball franchise, revealed Friday night (Aug. 28) that they were withdrawing their bid to purchase the Mets.
The J-Lo-Rodriguez group bid was for $1.7 billion, with the couple putting in $300 million of their own money, ESPN reported in July.
