Ryan Day releases update on Haskell Garrett – 247Sports

Ohio State fans woke up Sunday early morning to some scary news. Senior defensive tackle Haskell Garrett, it was reported, had been shot in the face near the schools school and discovered by police. Garrett was required to the hospital but remained in steady condition.
According to the report, cops officers found blood on a shell and the street casing on the 400 block of Chittenden Ave. near Ohio States school and followed it to an apartment on East 11th Ave. where they discovered Garrett with a through-and-through gunshot wound in his cheek. The Columbus Police Department did not release any more details about the shooting and asked for any details on a possible suspect to be sent out to them.
On Monday morning, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day released a statement, upgrading that Garrett is doing well, is expected to recover and thanking all of those involved.

Haskell Garrett has been receiving outstanding care at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for the injuries he received on Sunday. We anticipate he will be launched from the Medical Center this morning. On behalf of his family and this football program, we would like to thank all those who have been a part of Haskells treatment and we are grateful that he will be heading home today. We will continue to help him and his family any method we can to accelerate his recovery.

Garrett was a four-star recruit and the countrys sixth-ranked defensive take on prospect out of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School in the 2017 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite. He committed to Ohio State over deals from Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma Oregon and other leading programs.
In his first three seasons with the Buckeyes, Garrett has played mostly in a reserve or rotational function, seeing action in 33 games. He handled 20 total takes on, 2.5 tackles for a loss and one pass protected over the last 3 years.
