A new PlayStation patent is making the rounds, and like every patent prior to it, its bloated with technical lingo that makes the entire patent tough to understand. It looks and sounds like the patent is related to the PS5 controller, however this is not the interesting part.
Within the patent are a range of icons for different input approaches, consisting of an older DualShock controller model, PlayStation Move wands, a keyboard and mouse, and even a PSP. Whats especially interesting is the PSPs addition. While its easy to compose off the older DualShock controller as just a means to represent a PlayStation controller in a basic sense, its intriguing that the patent consists of portable representation at all with Sony relatively out of that market.
As you would expect, PlayStation fans have a lot of theories on the patent, including speculation that the PS5 will support remote play, though this appears especially not likely unless Sony is going to make a brand-new handheld.
Of course, all of this is simply speculation. Not just is the patent itself a bit vague in its ramifications, but patents themselves are never ever worth looking too deeply into since a company like Sony files for patents all the time that never ever graduate beyond the conceptual stage.
