Influencer Danielle Bernstein gets COVID-19 amid Hamptons backlash – Page Six

Fashion influencer Danielle Bernstein has tested positive for COVID-19 — after followers accused her of spending the summer gallivanting in the Hamptons.

Bernstein, who is behind the popular account WeWoreWhat, shared her diagnosis Saturday with her followers and said she was quarantined in her New York City apartment.

“I let everyone know who needed to and have been following all of my buildings’ strict protocols to be here,” she said in an Instagram story.

She didn’t say how she became infected with the virus — but has received backlash this summer for her time out East.

Her escapades inspired an anonymous Instagram account dedicated to her “complete disregard for a global pandemic.”

“Well, I can’t say I’m surprised that Danielle has covid,” @wedonttakecovidseriouslywhat wrote on its page, which has shared videos of Bernstein at parties and going out to restaurants.

Others on social media also accused the influencer of not being careful enough throughout the pandemic.

“weworewhat partied all summer maskless in the hamptons and now has covid she’s just so stupid,” wrote one Twitter user.

Bernstein defended herself on her Instagram stories against the criticism, saying that she has followed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, wore a mask when necessary and “lived life in phase FOUR reopening of NY.”

“Small groups, dining out, all of it is currently allowed. Guidelines are there to help us, but they are clearly not bullet proof,” she wrote.

She continued, “Of course I could have been more careful and still got it… the virus is still very much here and I will be taking it even more seriously going forward.”

Bernstein’s rep didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.

The embattled influencer was slammed on social media earlier this summer when she was accused of stealing a mask design from small business By Second Wind — a claim which she has vigorously denied.
