THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.– Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay states hes likely accountable for the NFL memo sent Monday to strengthen that coaches need to use face coverings at all times on the sidelines throughout games and threatening discipline for those who dont comply.
” I figured that memo was directed at me,” McVay said Monday evening throughout a video conference with reporters.
Throughout a season-opening success over the Dallas Cowboys in front of a Sunday Night Football tv audience, McVay wandered the sideline with his mask mainly used under his chin, a clear offense of the leagues coronavirus safety procedure.
” Ive been getting blasted all day about it, so I just like it,” McVay said, a bit tongue-in-cheek, before continuing in a more serious tone. “I will do better.”

Harry How/Getty ImagesIn contrast to McVay, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy, when shown on the NBC broadcast, appeared to use his mask throughout the 2-hour, 56-minute video game.
When the Rams play the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday, McVay said hes uncertain if hell stick with a face mask or possibly use a neck gaiter. A face shield, like the one Kansas City coach Andy Reid used in the Chiefs opener and which misted up, appears to be a non-starter for McVay.
” I was certainly among the main offenders of not following what the league desires,” McVay stated. “I will certainly understand that and do much better.”
The leagues coronavirus safety procedure says that anybody with bench-area gain access to, leaving out gamers, must wear masks on game day, which the mask must fit safely across the nose and mouth to avoid transmission of COVID-19.
