Whats truly happening with George Kittle?

Thats the question San Francisco 49ers fans– and, of course, dream football owners– are asking about the tight end after he went to the locker space with an apparent knee injury just prior to halftime of his groups season opening loss versus the Arizona Cardinals. He returned to action, however was not targeted as soon as in the 2nd half, regardless of playing every breeze.

” Other guys were open,” Kittle said. “Thats just the method the video game goes often.

The concurring, non-alarmist view is that the 49ers were running without their top-two wide receivers, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, and the Cardinals rolled double protection Kittles method consistently throughout the afternoon. He captured some passes in the very first half, but might have simply been engulfed by the Cardinals secondary in the second half.

Contributing to the intrigue: Kittle remained in obvious pain on the 49ers sideline immediately following the injury, however strolled into the locker space without an obvious limp, then stated after the video game his leg felt “fantastic,” and was “not a concern at all.”.

Still, Kittle isnt one to grumble about injuries– he played through a torn labrum for two seasons, after all– so its worth waiting on Shanahans update to members of the media at 3:30 p.m. on Monday before breathing a sigh of relief.

When inquired about his lack of targets in the 2nd half, Kittle chalked it as much as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo taking what the Arizona defense gave the 49ers.

To that end, Kittle was targeted five times on Sunday. For what its worth, Kittle was targeted five or less times in three video games last season, so while the low target count is not normal, it isnt totally unmatched.

Said head coach Kyle Shanahan, “I understand he went out with a lower leg injury … They dont get into specifics with me. At halftime, he informed me he was good to go, so he returned.” Other guys were open,” Kittle said. “Thats just the way the game goes often. Well view the movie, see what took place, how I can be better, how I can be more open, and well go from there.

Said head coach Kyle Shanahan, “I understand he went out with a lower leg injury … They do not get into specifics with me. At halftime, he told me he was excellent to go, so he returned. Im sure well discover a bit more tomorrow early morning when he comes in.”.
