Saints WR Emmanuel Sanders states Drew Brees sobbed HARD throughout his apology to the group in the wake of his controversial anthem comments … and now, Sanders states N.O. players have actually proceeded.
The 33-year-old exposed on ESPNs “First Take” on Wednesday that he was initially pissed back in June when Brees stated anthem kneelers were “disrespecting the flag.”
But, Sanders declares the Saints had a team meeting over everything shortly after the QBs comments … and he says Brees asked forgiveness vehemently through a mountain of tears.
” As he talked, the more and more he talked, you simply see a guy with just tears rolling down his face,” Sanders stated.
” I suggest, Ive never seen that. You could simply inform that he was hurt by his comments and the things that individuals were stating about him due to the fact that he was unaware of it.”
Emmanuel included, “I suggest just tears flowing down his face.”
Sanders states after that team discussion … Saints gamers understood that Brees understood his mistake– and have because moved on.
” We understood where he was coming from and we had the ability to move past it,” Sanders says. “I do not see any weird energy going on in the locker room.”
Sanders– who signed with the Saints just a few weeks prior to Brees remarks– included hes since come to know Drew as “among the finest colleagues Ive been around.”
