Microsoft reportedly launching Surface Pro X 2 in fall with new chip and color variant – The Verge

Microsoft is also reported to be working on a brand-new color version for this updated Surface Pro X, which would see the device launch in the platinum normally found on the Intel-based Surface Pro line. Microsoft introduced the Surface Pro X in black in 2015, with a black Type Cover. Its most likely well see a variety of Type Cover colors for this new Surface Pro X to match the new platinum version.

Microsoft is reportedly planning to refresh its ARM-powered Surface Pro X this fall. Windows Central reports that the Surface Pro X will be updated to consist of Microsofts SQ2 processor, which will likely be based upon Qualcomms Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G. Its not clear if this revitalized Surface Pro X will consist of 5G support, but Qualcomms latest chip supports the alternative for Microsoft to include it.

There are no rumors around any design or substantial hardware modifications beyond the chip update, so its likely that Microsoft will adhere to the thinner and lighter style it presented last year for the Pro X. The processor alone might assist enhance the efficiency of the Surface Pro X, which struggled with standard imitated apps.

Microsoft will likely hold an October Surface event to introduce this updated Surface Pro X, alongside a rumored smaller sized 12.5-inch Surface Laptop.
