Marios well-known “gay Bowser” line isnt in Super Mario 3D All-Stars version of Super Mario 64 – and fans are waving a sad farewell.
In the original N64 masterpiece, Mario screams “so long, gay Bowser!” as he chucks Bowser in the final employer fight. Heres how it sounds:
As you d expect, there are plenty of individuals lamenting the loss of the “gay Bowser” line. So long, gay Bowser, you might state.
As reported by Kotaku, Mario does not say “gay Bowser” or anything of the sort in the Mario 64 thats in Super Mario 3D All-Stars on Nintendo Switch. And, it appears, thats due to the fact that Nintendo has emulated the Super Mario 64 Shindou Pak Taiou version for the collection.
The obscure Super Mario 64 Shindou Pak Taiou version was launched in Japan in 1997, a year after the original, and includes some crucial differences. Among these is Mario says “buh-bye!” as he tosses Bowser, and thats apparently since Bowser is called King Kooper in Japan, therefore the “gay Bowser” line needed to be replaced.

Fans invested years attempting to exercise what the dialogue was going for – or perhaps if it was being heard correctly. Time passed, the line became a meme, and all of us proceeded.
Till April 2019, when Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, required to Twitter to insist Mario is stating “so long kinga Bowser!”, however no-one bought that. A fan restoration published in July 2020 makes it sound a lot more like Mario is stating “gay Bowser”.
