49ers disastrous weekend of injuries, delays continues when MRI truck breaks down – Yahoo Sports

The stretch of bad luck for the San Francisco 49ers continues.

The team experienced a long list of injuries in Week 2 and got stuck waiting on MRI results for stars Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas. That’s because the MRI machine truck broke down.

And it turns out, even their trip to the East Coast wasn’t simple. The plane was delayed from the Bay Area on Friday night after a breakdown with the plane.

To recap, that’s one breakdown, a game full of injuries and a second breakdown all within 100 hours.

Nick Bosa results delayed after MRI breakdown

The 49ers (1-1) feared that both Bosa, the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, and defensive lineman Thomas suffered torn ACLs in their left knees. They intended to find out early on Monday, but there were issues with the MRI truck, coach Kyle Shanahan said.

The results came back late on Monday for Bosa, confirming an ACL tear.

Bosa had his leg rolled up on in the pile and was carted off in the first quarter. Thomas went down shortly afterward. The 49ers have already lost receiver Deebo Samuel (foot), tight end George Kittle (knee) and cornerback Richard Sherman (placed on injured reserve with a leg injury) this season. Losing Bosa and Thomas would be a huge blow to the 49ers’ strong defensive line.

They are also awaiting results for Tevin Coleman, who needs an MRI on his knee.

The road trip didn’t start out well for the 49ers. The original plane at San Jose International Airport was crashed into on the runway, Shanahan said. It caused a six-hour delay for their trip.

The team is staying at The Greenbrier in West Virginia to turn around and play the New York Giants on Sunday back at MetLife Stadium, which Shanahan blamed for the injuries. The plane ride from New Jersey to West Virginia seemed to go off without an issue and it gave the team “time to b—- a bit about some of our unluckiness of injuries,” Shanahan said.

It’s certainly been a weekend to forget in 49ers land.
