Tyrod Taylor was knocked out of the Chargers video game Sunday versus Kansas City since of an accident that included his lung being pierced by a team physician, a league source validated.
Taylor received an injection before the game to assist him handle pain from a rib injury. Throughout the treatment, his lung was accidentally pierced, which resulted in Taylor having a hard time to breathe. He was changed moments before kickoff by novice Justin Herbert.
The concept that Taylor might have suffered a punctured lung was first recommended by David Chao, a previous group doctor for the Chargers. On a podcast, Chao explained that he had no understanding of the scenario and had sought advice from no one from the group. Offered the information, he discussed that a punctured lung is “a known problem” of such injections.
On Monday, Chargers coach Anthony Lynn wouldnt explain however did confess there were problems during a pregame procedure done on Taylor. He also restated his postgame remarks that Taylor would remain the Chargers starter if and when hes totally healthy.
” Tyrod Taylor hasnt done anything to lose his job,” Lynn said. “It wasnt his fault he wasnt on the field.”
Lynn stated he would not call his starter for the Chargers next game, Sunday against Carolina at SoFi Stadium, until he had more clearness on Taylors health. Unless Taylor is “100%,” as Lynn described it, the expectation is that Herbert will start against the Panthers.
