The Thursday night matchup in between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars will feature a fight between one quarterback with the finest beard in the league and one with the very best mustache.
Of course, this became a thing Tuesday when Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, whose beard would make Grizzly Adams envious, was asked about Gardner Minshew II.
Particularly, Fitzpatrick was asked about entering the NFL as a late-round draft choice as Minshew did– and after that was asked why beards are better than mustaches.
” The beard versus the mustache, I think the beard is a cooler look,” Fitzpatrick said. “I believe guys that grow mustaches a lot of times have patchy sides for their beards, so they just stick with the mustache. “I think Ive revealed I can grow a beard with no irregular sides. I have not cut it yet, so I do not believe its going past this right here, but I want I had a beard like that. Last night we were in a little group conference and somebody simply brought up the beard and I was like, Bruh does have an actually great beard since his chinstrap is so little, and the beard is just everywhere.
And if you didnt believe Fitzpatrick was going to play along, well, you simply do not know Fitzpatrick extremely much.
” The beard versus the mustache, I believe the beard is a cooler look,” Fitzpatrick stated. “I think guys that grow mustaches a lot of times have patchy sides for their beards, so they just stick to the mustache. My other half values the mustache trimmed up a little bit more. She does dislike the beard too, so I think thats a lose-lose for me.”
Not to be outshined, Minshew was prepared when he was asked about Fitzpatricks comments and needed to safeguard his mustache.
” Oh no, guy, Ill let mine promote itself,” Minshew stated. “I think Ive revealed I can grow a beard without any irregular sides. You understand, Im going to have regard for my elders, especially when theyre much, much senior. Ill be considerate.”
Minshew turned 24 in May; Fitzpatrick will turn 38 on Nov. 24.
Jaguars second-year defensive end Josh Allen, who himself sports a beard, got included in the entire beard/mustache conversation.
Hair and age aside, the quarterback matchup includes two guys coming off 300-yard efficiencies, albeit both in losses.
Fitzpatrick passed for 328 yards with two goals and no interceptions in the Dolphins 31-28 loss versus the Buffalo Bills, while Minshew threw for 339 backyards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in Jacksonvilles 33-30 loss against the Tennessee Titans.
It was Minshews 3rd successive game dating back to last season with 3 touchdown passes, setting a franchise record.
” I havent seen him play a heap but the few times I have, I like enjoying him,” Fitzpatrick said. “I enjoy his playing style. It appears like hes out there having enjoyable. Its hard to play quarterback in this league. Its hard to play as a young quarterback. Hes currently had a great deal of success. Hes had a great start to the season. Hes a guy that I do not believe Ive bet him, so Im delighted to view him play and see how he does.”

“I was looking at him and I was like, This dude does have a truly great beard, however you cant beat the stache. I feel like everybody can rock a great beard. I got me a little beard.
While he sided with his quarterback in the beard-mustache argument, Allen did admit to some beard envy when he was asked whether he had a better beard than Fitzpatrick.
” I mean no, but its good for me,” Allen said. “Ive been growing it out for a couple years now. I havent suffice yet, so I dont think its passing by this right here, but I want I had a beard like that. Its pretty cool.”
Of course, one wonders why it was that Allen was believing about Fitzpatricks beard in the first place.
Allen said. Last night we were in a little team meeting and someone simply brought up the beard and I was like, Bruh does have a really excellent beard because his chinstrap is so small, and the beard is simply all over.
