Square Enix’s remaster of the original Nier, known in full as Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139, is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23, 2021. The game’s creators announced the release date during a Nier-centric livestream titled “We Have a Decent Amount of New Info,” which now appears accurate.
Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 is an update to the 2010 game Nier Replicant. In the West, the game was simply known as Nier, and told the story of a father searching for a cure for his daughter. However, the upcoming remaster of Nier Replicant will follow the original Japanese version of the story, which “invites players into a dark, apocalyptic world as they join a brother’s captivating quest to cure his sister of a deadly disease — a quest which will in turn make them question everything.”
In addition to a standard version of the game, Square Enix is also releasing a deluxe version of Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139: the White Snow Edition.
The Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 White Snow Edition includes a copy of the game, along with a SteelBook case; three pins based on the white, black, and crimson books; a seven-volume set of the game’s recording script; and a two-CD soundtrack set that comes in a grimoire-style package. The White Snow Edition comes in deluxe packaging. It’s available for pre-order in Japan for 19,800 yen (about $188), and will come to North America for an unspecified price.
