If you wish to collect those apples, you better get on it quickly: Zynga is shutting down its initial FarmVille web game on Facebook at the end of the year, the company announced. Its not totally unanticipated news; Facebook stated in July it would no longer support Flash video games since December 31st, the exact same date Adobe is killing the Flash player altogether.
The video game released in 2009 and had more than 10 million daily active users in less than two months. A mobile variation and a sequel followed, however subsequent video games never ever quite recorded the magic of the original.
FarmVille players will be able to continue making in-app purchases till November 17th, after which its payment system will close down. You can still play the game till December 31st, after which it will close down permanently. And Zynga states a mobile variation of FarmVille 3 will be readily available worldwide soon.
