Microsofts Outlook service was down worldwide today, impacting Outlook on the web, Outlook.com, and Outlook on desktop and mobile. The interruption began at around 2AM ET, after Microsoft has verified it was impacting users worldwide. Outlook users were not able to access their e-mail, and Outlook.com was stopping working to load for around 4 hours.
Microsoft states a current configuration modification was to blame for the concerns. “Weve figured out that a recent configuration update to elements that path user demands was the reason for impact,” states Microsoft in a service message on Twitter. “Weve reverted the upgrade and are monitoring the service for healing.”
Outlook services have actually begun to come back online for many people now, and Microsoft says it has “reverted the update and telemetry reveals that the service is now recuperating.”
This is the second major Microsoft services outage in less than a week. On Monday Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, Teams, and other services all knowledgeable concerns for hours. Unlike other business like Cloudflare, Microsoft does not completely information the root cause of its interruptions so we might never understand exactly why its Outlook e-mail service has experienced substantial issues twice in a week.
Update, October 1st 6:30 AM ET: Microsofts Outlook service is now recovering.
