For the very first time in 2020, fans will be allowed to go to Major League Baseball video games later this postseason. MLB revealed Wednesday that a limited variety of tickets will be available for NLCS and World Series games at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Commissioner Rob Manfred just recently stated MLB was “pushing ahead” with strategies to have fans in the stands in the NLCS and World Series. Its unclear whether the roofing will be open for postseason games.
MLB states it has “received the appropriate approvals” to host fans, who will be seated in socially distanced four-person “pods” throughout the ballpark. Around 11,500 tickets will be provided, with 950 fans in suites and the rest spread throughout the stands. Heres more on MLBs safety procedures:
Team employees and their families, in addition to the households of gamers, have actually been permitted to sit in the stands throughout the Wild Card Series today. The ALDS and ALCS will be played at Petco Park and Dodger Stadium, though no fans will be permitted to participate in. The NLDS will be dipped into Globe Life Field and Minute Maid Park. The whole NLCS will be dipped into Globe Life Field.
Permitting fans to participate in NLCS and World Series games will provide MLB another postseason earnings stream, though at many, there will be 14 games played and roughly 160,000 tickets offered. Its not much, but it is much better than absolutely nothing after league financial resources were injured by the pandemic and subsequent shutdown.
Hand sterilizing stations will be available throughout the ballpark..
