Shaquem Griffin promoted to the Seattle Seahawks’ 53-man roster – Field Gulls

Shaquem Griffin is back on the Seahawks’ 53-man roster. The third-year linebacker, who played for the first time this season in Week 3 as an elevated practice squad player, was signed to Seattle’s active roster on Friday ahead of their Week 4 trip to play the Dolphins.

In his first appearance last Sunday, Griffin provided a spark on third downs and toward the end of the game as a pass rusher, just as he did down the stretch during the 2019 season. After Griffin’s performance, Pete Carroll told reporters he earned the chance to play again in Miami, but it was unclear whether that was going to be via practice squad elevation, or a return to the 53 after being waived at the end of camp.

With an open roster spot, following several roster moves earlier in the week, the Seahawks made the decision to add him to the 53-man roster. Following the addition of Griffin, Seattle has an open spot on their 16-man practice squad.
