Auburn Football Live: The Georgia game – 247Sports

Georgia made a statement early with a 24-0 lead in the first half, Stetson Bennett IV got the nod for the Bulldogs at quarterback and performed well, and Auburn was held without a touchdown for the first time since a road loss to Mississippi State in 2018, as the No. 7 Tigers lost their seventh straight game in Athens, 27-6 on Saturday night.

After the teams traded three-and-outs to start the ballgame, Bulldogs running back Zamir White (19 carries, 88 yards, two touchdowns) drew first blood on the scoreboard. Auburn’s offense continued to be stone-walled and Georgia kept riding Sanford Stadium’s momentum, as Bennett helped three more scoring drives in the first half, including a 21-yard touchdown pass to one-time Auburn commit George Pickens.

Auburn’s offense was held to just 39 yards rushing. After throwing 50 passes against UGA last year, sophomore quarterback Bo Nix went 21-for-41 for 177 yards and his first interception in six SEC contests. Auburn entered Georgia territory twice after halftime but only came up with a field goal.

Georgia’s running game, meanwhile, eclipsed the 200-yard mark, and its top four ball-carriers averaged at least 4.6 yards per rush apiece.

Here’s a rundown of the rest of the action.
