Could this be completion for these much-loved franchises beyond Japan? You can read GamesIndustry.bizs original report here.
Level-5, the studio behind titles such as Professor Layton, Ni No Kuni, Yo-Kai Watch and Inazuma Eleven, has actually practically stopped its operations in North America according to a new report.
GamesIndustry.biz reports that both Level-5 International America and the companys spin-off workplace, Level-5 Abby, started to scale back its operations last year. Citing “several sources knowledgeable about the matter”, the report recommends that this consisted of laying off the majority of staff at both offices, with a projected variety of 10 workers being released at each.
Obviously, no factor for the layoffs was offered, however GamesIndustry.bizs sources state that the employees were “given every indicator” that the studio would be closing down, with a much smaller team staying to finalise any essential work left over.
One source has apparently stated that there are no concrete plans for any more Level-5 video games to be released outside of Japan; the last title launched in North America was Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold at the start of the year, and while weve previously been guaranteed a western localisation for Yo-Kai Watch 4, were yet to see anything truly materialise.
