White Sox Reportedly Plan to Reach Out to Tony La Russa About Their New Managerial Opening – bleachernation.com

Tony La Russa was, certainly, a excellent and successful Big league Baseball manager in his day, accumulating a. 533 winning portion across three companies, winning 6 pennants, and three World Series. The guy was traditional, he frustrated the crap out of me on the Cardinals, but he was extremely successful.

That stated, he now 76 years of ages and has not managed in nine years. He hasnt been entirely disconnected from the video game because time (hes been an advisor in the Diamondbacks, Red Sox, and Angels companies), but he hasnt been in a dugout in nearly a decade.

So this report, from Bob Nightengale, gets a big wut from me:

La Russa started his managerial career in 1979 with the White Sox, so there d be some cycle appeal, but is he actually the best guy to lead a team now?

All that said, I think everybody is anticipating the White Sox to opt for one of the now-available-to-come-back supervisors who were suspended in the fallout of sign-stealing scandals: previous Red Sox supervisor Alex Cora, or former Astros supervisor A.J. Hinch. Numerous think Cora actually just goes back to the Red Sox now, so if its Hinch, that would make an entire lot of sense for the White Sox if they truly desire to push right now. And, for what its worth, although Hinch will forever use the stain of the scandal, he certainly did not come off as one of the primary villains.

Apparently La Russa and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf are still pals (and if I understand anything about baseball operations, its that you certainly desire your 84-year-old owner selecting the teams supervisor), and this is the first job in a while that has intrigued him. It simply opened up like 5 hours back, mind you, so Im believing someone had a line out to Nightengale to get this report out for some factor.
