Earlier this week, Marvel’s Avengers got one of its biggest patches ever, complete with a bit of new content. But it seems like this new content will have to tide players over for a while. On Friday, Crystal Dynamics announced several delays to some of its upcoming Marvel’s Avengers additions — including the next-gen version of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox One.
However, the most immediate delay will be to the game’s first new character, Kate Bishop. She was supposed to be released in October, but the developer pushed the timing back. No specific time frame given in the developer blog. Also getting pushed back is the Operation that was supposed to come along with Bishop’s release, including Tachyon Rifts, and the Taking AIM missions.
Unfortunately, Bishop wasn’t the only thing to get delayed. Crystal Dynamics also announced that it pushed the release date for the next-gen versions of Marvel’s Avengers back. The game’s next-gen upgrades were slated for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year, but now they won’t be ready until 2021.
You can still play the game on next-gen systems when they are released, but the upgrades will be minimal and limited to those provided by the more-powerful hardware — like increased frame rate and faster load times.
The post also had some information on the additions Crystal Dynamics plans to make to Marvel’s Avengers’ late game. For instance, the post mentions that the first Omega-Level Threat mission, which is called AIM Cloning Lab will be on the way in the near future. The Cloning Lab will require players to play at a higher power-level, but it will also have more powerful rewards. The AIM Cloning Lab will only be available to players from 1 p.m. EDT on Fridays until 1 p.m. EDT on Mondays. However, the post doesn’t include a release date for the mission.
Despite a lack of release dates, there was some good news. Crystal Dynamics is sharing some free in-game rewards with players via an “thank-you bundle,” a gift to players after the first few weeks since launch. The bundle will include:
- Credits: 1500 – Enough for a Legendary Skin and Nameplate from the Marketplace
- Units: 7000
- Upgrade Modules: 250
- DNA Keys: 20
- A Sarah Garza-Inspired Nameplate
The bundle will be available for players to claim until Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. EDT.
