Alabama quarterback Mac Jones did something Saturday night that Tua Tagovailoa or any other signal caller in Tide history ever accomplished.
Jones notched his third straight 400-yard passing game, this time against the Bulldogs top defense. Last week, Jones became the first Alabama quarterback to throw for back-to-back 400-yard games. So, he essentially broke his own record, and it will likely be one that stands for a long time.
Jones threw for 435 against Texas A&M, 417 against Ole Miss and 417 against Georgia.
Currently with over 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Jones has thrown for 410 yards and 4 touchdowns against Georgia. He’s thrown touchdowns to DeVonta Smith (2), Jaylen Waddle (1) and John Metchie (1).
Jones was supposed to be the placeholder and bridge from Tagovailoa to 5-star freshman Bryce Young. Instead, he’s quickly become the SEC’s best quarterback who will become a major factor in the Heisman Trophy race.
Alabama knocked off Georgia 41-24.
