Among Us has been in the social media spotlight for weeks now, despite being a simple 2D game with cute lil’ space bean graphics. But what if, instead, the crewmates (and deadly impostors) were running around a 3D version of the map? A VR developer named Jar has posted a video of this very thing. It’s a playable multiplayer map of The Skeld, the original Among Us level. (Two additional levels were released this year, which led to the game’s massive viral spread across Twitch.) However, the map does not require a virtual reality headset, which means anyone could partake in this game.
Jar’s short trailer shows some truly intriguing scenes that will be quite familiar to regular Among Us players, like an impostor in the vents preparing to spike, and crewmates dutifully cleaning out an oxygen filter and fixing wires. Of course, everything being in a 3D environment gives it a whole new perspective, literally and metaphorically. The realistic proportions of the crewmates are also a little alarming. Canonically, crewmates are only 3 feet, 9 inches tall, and around 90 pounds. In Jar’s map, they’re all full-grown people! It’s very silly, but also fun to watch.
A link to the world is available, which allows players to give it a spin with up to nine of their friends.
