The Buffalo Bills showed interest in Darron Lee at the end of August. On Thursday, the former first round pick made a second visit to Buffalo.
This time Buffalo plans on keeping Lee around. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said the Bills plan to add Lee to their 53-man roster or practice squad after he passes a physical and COVID-19 protocols.
The New York Jets made Lee, 26, was 20th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
One reason Lee was selected in the first round was due to his athleticism. Lee ran a 4.45 40-yard dash while displaying a 35.5 inch vertical leap.
Lee’s career never took off with the Jets. After three seasons in New York, the Jets traded Lee to the Kansas City Chiefs for a sixth round pick. The linebacker would go on to win a Super Bowl with Kansas City last season.
Lee’s signing in Buffalo was likely delayed due to the fact that the NFL suspended the linebacker for four games at the start of the season. He was reinstated from suspension in early October and will be eligible to play as soon as he joins the roster.
In his career, Lee has 272 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, four sacks and three interceptions.
