A big weekend for the Tagovailoa family got off to a good start Friday night.
Two days before his brother’s first start for the Miami Dolphins, Taulia Tagovailoa helped Maryland overcome a 17-point fourth quarter deficit on its way to beating Minnesota 45-44 in overtime during a nationally televised game on ESPN.
A week after throwing three interceptions and for just 94 yards during a loss to Northwestern in his first college start, Tagovailoa accumulated five touchdowns and 458 yards of total offense in the win over Minnesota.
Tagovailoa, who transferred from Alabama to Maryland in May, was 26 for 35 with 394 yards and three touchdowns as a passer.
The former Thompson High School star also ran for 64 yards and two scores, including one to give the Terrapins a 45-38 lead in overtime.
