Man City player ratings vs Olympiacos as Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres good – Manchester Evening News

Ederson: Cool to come out of his box and head away as Walker and Stones dithered, and commanding in his box as well. The odd moment of sloppiness when distributing the ball though. 6

Walker: An unusual performance from someone who has been so consistent this season. He made more headway than he usually does bombing down the right flank but was sloppy at the back, giving the ball away to the frustration of his manager. 7

Stones: Did well enough alongside Ake despite a few overly cautious moments. It has to be considered a plus for him that he started ahead of Eric Garcia. 7

Ake: City’s best defender. Making his first appearance the win over Arsenal, the summer signing was composed and authoritative throughout. 8

Zinchenko: A familiar performance to Zinchenko. His game awareness and positioning moving forward is excellent, but was targeted as the game progressed. 7

Gundogan: At first, his roving role summed up City’s total control and how much he was pulling the strings. As time went on, his wandering told of an increasingly confused side. 7

De Bruyne: Wasted an early opportunity with a hesitant finish when through on goal and was unusually subdued otherwise. Let his frustrations out in the second half. 6

Foden: In a rare start in the midfield three, Foden showed the drive that he brings to the team and worked well with Sterling. Was fortunate not to throw away that work by giving the ball away in his own half. 6

Mahrez: A game that sums up Riyad Mahrez’s season so far. There were some nice touches and constructive runs but ultimately not enough end product. 6

Sterling: He was a little livelier in the second half but struggled to find his usual space, even from the left. Normally combines with De Bruyne much more often. 6

Torres: Goals are increasingly valuable in this City season and he looks the best chance of getting them right now. Took his goal very well and a few other nice touches, but faded again in the second half before livening up when moved back to the right. 8

City extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions as they beat Olympiacos.

City have started their Champions League campaign immaculately, scoring three goals in all three of their group games, and Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over the Greek side gives them maximum points.
