Georgia features Lindsay Scott in hype trailer for Florida game – 247Sports

As No. 5 Georgia, coming off a 14-3 road win over Kentucky, is set to face No. 8 Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.  On Thursday, the Bulldogs video team has released a video trailer for the conference matchup. This 96-second feature is entitled “Georgia vs Florida” and includes highlights of Georgia’s wins over Florida. On the 40th anniversary of the rivalry’s most famous play, the video is appropriately narrated by former Dawgs’ wideout Lindsay Scott.

In that 1980 matchup, Georgia was down 21-19 to Florida with about a minute left in the game, Scott caught a short pass from quarterback Buck Belue, broke a tackle, and raced for the endzone, with legendary broadcaster Larry Munson screaming “Run Lindsay!…..Lindsay Scott, Lindsay Scott, Lindsay Scott!” as Scott crossed the end zone for the game-winning touchdown that kept the team’s national championship dreams alive.

“This Georgia-Florida rivalry really insinuates what college football is all about,” Scott said. “The winner of this ballgame is either going to go to the championship or they are not. This is a big game. It has always been that way and it is no different this year.”

Georgia is 4-1 and ranked No. 5 in both the Coaches Poll and Associated Press Top 25 coming off 14-3 road win over Kentucky  The Bulldogs are 47-13 under fifth-year head coach Kirby Smart, with a 29-9 record in conference play. The Georgia Bulldogs, No. 5 in the Coaches Poll and in the Associated Press Top 25, will play No. 8 Florida in Jacksonville (Fla.) on Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised by CBS. Georgia leads the all-time series 54-43-2., having won the last three matchups. Florida went on quite the run in the 1990s and 2000s to make this series closer but Georgia has won the last two in blowout fashion.  The Gators had a losing record in 2017 and it caused Jim McElwain to lose his job. Dan Mullen took over and led the team to a Peach Bowl victory over Michigan in 2018. Expectations are high in Gainesville in 2019, with the Gators having been ranked nearly as high as Georgia in most offseason polls. This rivalry is once again becoming a heated one, with no love lost between Kirby Smart and Mullen after Florida’s head coach spent much of the 2019 offseason taking shots at Georgia.

Dan [Mullen] has done a great job there with their team preparing those guys,” Smart said this week. “They are high-powered, got a lot of really good skill players, an experienced quarterback. They throw and catch the ball really well. They have a really good unit and a good team. I thought the defense played really well against Missouri. Todd [Grantham] has them playing really hard. It was the first time they had lot of their core guys back up-front, and they’ve got some big guys up-front. They’ve got a really good team, really good special teams, so — as always — it should be a great game.”
