Alabama is new No. 1 in Amway Coaches Poll; Notre Dame now No. 2 after upset of Clemson – USA TODAY

Alabama moves up thanks to Clemson’s double-overtime loss at Notre Dame. The Tide received 55 of 62 first-place votes. They return to action next Saturday against struggling LSU.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, leapfrogs two places into the No. 2 spot thanks to its big win. The Fighting Irish got four No. 1 votes, their first of the season, helping them pass Ohio State. The Buckeyes, who handled their business against Rutgers, claimed the remaining three first-place votes. Yes, that would be the same Aggies’ team that toppled the Gators several weeks ago.
