While the PlayStation 5 remake of Demon’s Souls hews closely to the original game in terms of its design, developer Bluepoint Games has made a few intriguing changes to FromSoftware’s groundbreaking role-playing game. The studio has also apparently added a new mystery to Demon’s Souls, one that players haven’t been able to unravel yet.
Over the weekend, players discovered a hidden door behind one of Demon’s Souls’ illusory walls. Those illusions are normally limited to the Shrine of Storms region in the original Demon’s Souls, but players of the PS5 remake found a new illusory wall in the third section of the game’s first region, Boletarian Palace.
Behind that illusory wall? A locked door, with no known way in.
Players also report that there is something behind that locked door (unlike a similarly mysterious door in Bloodborne, which turned out to be nothing). Using Demon’s Souls new photo mode, players have been able to peek behind that door, where a mysterious item awaits.
In recent days, players have been brute forcing solutions, attempting everything from shifting the level’s World Tendency to wearing certain pieces of equipment to carrying 79 gold coins (a throwback to Bluepoint’s Shadow of the Colossus remake, which had a secret door that required that amount of hidden coins to unlock). So far, players have had no luck cracking this particular mystery.
Players have discovered other new secrets in the remake, including a couple of new rings that players can acquire by trading rare items with Sparkly the Crow.
