GREEN BAY – For the second consecutive week, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week following Sunday’s 24-20 win over Jacksonville.
Fans are encouraged to vote for Rodgers, with the winner being announced Wednesday.
Rodgers, who also was nominated his 305-yard, four-TD performance against San Francisco in Week 9, threw for 325 yards and two TDs with one INT (108.1 rating) against the Jaguars. Rodgers’ 78-yard TD pass to receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the second quarter was his longest TD since Jordy Nelson’s 80-yard touchdown reception vs. the New York Jets on Sept. 14, 2014.
Rodgers’ 116.4 season passer rating currently paces all NFL quarterbacks, while his 26 touchdown passes are the second most in team history through nine games behind only his 28 TD passes in 2011. It is only the second time in NFL history that a QB has thrown 26-plus TD passes with three or fewer INTs in the first nine games of a season, with Rodgers (28/3 in 2011) being the only other instance.
The two other Week 10 nominees are Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady (28-of-39 for 341 yards and 3 TDs) and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger (27-of-46 for 333 yards and 4 TDs).
