TimeSplitters 2 Remake not happening, THQ Nordic says – Polygon

Sorry folks. A TimeSplitters 2 remake is not in the works, says THQ Nordic.

The publisher had to make that statement over the weekend after players discovered an Easter egg in THQ Nordic’s SpellForce 3, whose Fallen God expansion launched on Nov. 3. It seems an in-world vendor has a lot of bogus junk to sell, among his wares a box for “TimeSplitters 2 Remake.”

A THQ Nordic spokesperson told Eurogamer that the vendor “is a character known especially for not telling the truth.” This goes for the copy of “cancelled” BioMutant on sale, too. That particular joke seems to be a reference to the developer’s reassurance (back in February) that they’re still working on it.

THQ Nordic’s parent company, Embracer Group, acquired the TimeSplitters franchise in 2018, but an announcement at the time made no mention of what, if anything, the publisher intended to do with it.

SpellForce 3: Fallen God is made by Grimlore Games, a Germany-based subsidiary of THQ Nordic. Stockholm-based Experiment 101 is the BioMutant developer.
