Ty Jerome reacts to being traded to the Thunder as part of Chris Paul deal – OKC Thunder Wire

One of the young players who was part of the Chris Paul deal with the Phoenix Suns expressed excitement on Twitter over being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Guard Ty Jerome, who is entering his second year in the NBA, quote-tweeted the Thunder social media’s welcome graphic with “New beginnings” with a black heart emoji.

Jerome played three seasons at Virginia and was a starter two of them, the final of which the Cavaliers won the National Championship. In the title year, Jerome averaged 13.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting about 47% from 2 and above 39% from behind the 3-point line.

Jerome couldn’t carve out a role for himself as a rookie in Phoenix. He appeared in 31 games for the Suns and averaged 3.3 points and 1.4 assists in 10.6 minutes per game.

Oklahoma City’s roster construction for next season is a complete question mark at this time, but Jerome should compete for a backup guard role.

Jerome is the second player involved in the deal to react over Twitter.

Point guard Ricky Rubio, who was a major part of the Suns team last season and was getting established in Phoenix, understandably had a sadder reaction to leaving the city and his teammates behind.

Those two players, along with wing Kelly Oubre Jr. and second-year guard Jalen Lecque, were traded to the Thunder for Paul and Abdel Nader.
