This “year” is drawing to a close, and it seems like people are really leaning into Christmas, even more so than usual. (Their halls are already decked!) This, to me, makes sense: The year of our lord 2020 has been more of an “ordeal” than a “year,” and we deserve all the shiny lights, nostalgic music, and delicious food and beverage we can cram into these next four weeks. This is why you should start every day with eggnog in your coffee.
Eggnog is, at its core, a heavier, sweeter, seasonally-spiced, and holiday-appropriate coffee creamer, and adding a little to your morning cup of caffeine will give you the kind of boost you can only get from holiday cheer (or maybe that is sugar). It’s a little gift you can give yourself all twelve days of Christmas, and it’s much better than a bunch of angry birds, dancing guys, or maids that are milking (unless they are milking a creature that produces eggnog).
Execution-wise, this move could not be easier, which is great, because life is hard enough. All you have to do is splash the ‘nog in your coffee until it is as sweet and creamy as you like it, then drink it. Wow. Amazing. If you’re an iced coffee drinker— and I am, even in these colder months—you can get a little fancy and shake you coffee-nog over ice in a cocktail shaker for a light and fluffy—but still milkshake-like—treat. Truly, there is no end to its gifts.
Could you add alcohol? I don’t know. I’m not familiar with your employment situation. All I know is that a little bourbon (or tequila) can accentuate the Christmas “cheer” aspect of the beverage, but that might be something you should save for the weekend (or at least 4 pm).
