With up to nine free agents departing, money to spend and a desire to win, the Twins could potentially be very active this offseason. While they aren’t likely to make any Josh Donaldson-sized splashes this winter, the Twins have a lot of work to do as they retool a roster with plenty of vacancies.
As they prepare to push for a third consecutive American League Central title, the Twins look to have needs in the starting rotation, bullpen, at the utility infield spot, outfield and possibly at catcher. How they will fill those voids and just how much payroll they have compared to last year’s club-record $140 million remains to be seen.
Over the course of the winter, The Athletic will track the status of both departing and incoming free agents for the Twins as well as keep you up to date on the latest on what we’re hearing about the team’s pursuits. This story will be updated as news happens.
