Activision has delayed its season 1 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone. The update was originally scheduled for Dec. 10, but has been pushed back to Dec. 16.
“It’s an unprecedented amount of free content and the teams are currently prepping for the biggest Season One launch week ever seen,” publisher Activision said in a blog post on the Call of Duty website. “For this to occur, we’re taking a few more days to finalize everything before unleashing this massive drop of new, free content to the community.”
The Black Ops Cold War and Warzone free updates make up “the largest free content drop in Black Ops history,” according to Activision.
The update will bring a new Warzone map and mode, with more than 30 new Black Ops Cold War weapons, “a new Gulag experience,” and other new maps and modes. As for Black Ops Cold War itself, players should expect new multiplayer maps, modes and playlists, and a new Fireteam map.
“This offering includes a battle through a sprawling luxury complex within the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles,” said Activision. “That’s right: the legendary Call of Duty: Black Ops II 6v6 map known as Raid will be ready to play in Black Ops Cold War at Season One launch.”
Alongside that, there’s new Zombies modes, challenges, and “the full cross-title launch of the Seasonal Prestige system,” bringing 1,000 season levels to the game.
Ahead of Dec. 16, Treyarch is turning on a Double XP and Double Weapon XP weekend in Black Ops Cold War. It’s also giving players two bundles — “Field Research” and “Certified” — as a preseason offer. They’ll be available from Dec. 8-15, and include weapon charms, weapon blueprints, and operator skins.
