Anthony Johnson signs with Bellator MMA – MMA Fighting

Bellator is bringing a “Rumble” to their roster.

Sources close to the situation confirmed to MMA Fighting that Anthony Johnson has signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA. Johnson officially signed his deal Wednesday morning, per sources.

ESPN was first to report the news.

Johnson is expected to compete in Bellator’s light heavyweight division and make his promotional debut sometime in the first half of 2021, although no specific debut date has been set.

“Rumble” hasn’t competed in MMA since an April 2017 loss to then 205-pound champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 210, where he was submitted via rear-naked choke in the second round. The 36-year-old compiled a 13-6 record while competing in the UFC under two different tenures.

Since parting ways with the UFC for the first time following a January 2012 loss to Vitor Belfort, Johnson was victorious in 12 of 14 fights – nine finishes – with both losses coming to Cormier.
