London Getting New 62,000-Square-Foot Studio – Hollywood Reporter

More central than other major facilities in the British capital, the Garden Studios — including four soundstages — is already open for film and TV productions.

London will add another studio to its growing library of film and TV facilities.

Garden Studios — announced by the Arts Alliance investment group — is a new 62,000-square-foot hub in Park Royal in the northwest of the British capital, more central than others and just 7 miles from Soho. Although details weren’t revealed, deals are already reportedly in place with some of the big streamers and studios — some of which are set to start work in the space in the first quarter of 2021.

Formed of two units, the studios include four soundstages of between 4,800 square feet and 23,250 square feet, alongside workshops, technical facilities, fully equipped offices and a Virtual Production stage.

Developers say the facility’s focus will be sustainability, with plans to offset its carbon footprint through reducing travel and a commitment to work with local supplies, from prop designers, editors, sound designers, producers, electricians, carpenters to local catering companies, electric car service and other client services.

The studio has already partnered with the nearby MetFilm School and will be launching an apprentice program.

“This will be an owner-operated business; spearheaded by people who have long and deep experience across many aspects of the film industry with success stories like Picturehouse Cinemas, Love Film, Arts Alliance Media, Met Filmschool and Park Circus under our belts,” said Arts Alliance founder and CEO, Thomas Hoegh. “Like all Arts Alliance companies, we seek to demonstrate an innovative and passionate drive for inclusive community building, learning and opportunities for all.”

Added Garden Studios manager Marnie Keeling: “I am delighted to be part of this exciting new film studio and to be working with a creative, committed and community-driven team. We are creating a unique space and hub that will be a leader in new technologies while creating a space that will feel like home. We are looking forward to welcoming the film community to Garden Studios.”
