After winning the Pac-12 title on Friday evening, the Ducks were guaranteed a birth into the New Year’s Six bowl games. The College Football Playoff selection committee released the final rankings of the 2020 season, setting up the bowl matchups.

The Oregon Ducks were announced to play against No. 10 Iowa State in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl on January 2nd, 2021 at 1:00 pm PT. Oregon finished the regular season as the No. 25 team following the Friday night upset over USC.

For the second straight year, the Ducks will be playing in the New Year’s Six by virtue of being the Pac-12 Champion.  The Pac-12 Champion typically played in the Rose Bowl but this year was set to be the Rose Bowl’s year to host the CFP Semi-Final but with restrictions in the Los Angeles area, that Semi-Final will be moved to Texas with no game at the Rose Bowl this season.

Following the Pac-12 title win, Mario Cristobal was proud of how his team handled the unprecedented 2020 season. The coach says he shared a message with his team in the spring and they followed through.

“Back in March we said whoever handles this pandemic best is going to end up holding up that trophy,” said Cristobal. “They managed to find a way to stay healthy, make it to every game, and sure enough we found ourselves here in the PAC-12 Championship. Tremendous credit to these football players.”
