UFC welterweight Mike Perry is now a father.
Early on Wednesday, Perry announced the birth of his son, who fiancee Latory Gonzalez indicated was named Ocean. Perry also thanked the staff at Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami for their work during a “scare” as his son “came out and didn’t want to take his first breath.”

The couple also shared pictures and video from the hospital.
The happy news comes two days after Perry raised concerns with a picture of a smashed window and his bloody leg after what appeared to be a drunken afternoon on a boat. Perry’s career was paused by the UFC this past July after he allegedly assaulted three people, including an older man who took a punch caught on tape. The promotion ordered him to undergo alcohol treatment.
Perry returned to the octagon this past November after being cleared to compete and was outpointed by Tim Means at UFC 255. Prior to the bout, he spoke of the positive influence of Gonzalez and looked forward to becoming a father.
“I want to put beautiful things out into the world,” he said. “I’m sure our son is going to be a handsome little devil, for sure. Just excited to see where life takes us and how we’re going to have fun together. My girl seemed to grow up a lot over night.”
