Kolbe Fields, who was previously committed to Oklahoma State and Memphis, committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday night.
The three-star linebacker from Louisiana joins Georgia Southern defensive back transfer David Spaulding and Delaware linebacker transfer Darryl Williams as the third commitment of the day for South Carolina. Fields, who attends Rummel High School in Metairie, La., announced his decision on Twitter.

South Carolina offered the No. 60-ranked outside linebacker in the class of 2021 less than a week ago. TheBigSpur logged a prediction for the Gamecocks on the 247Sports Crystal Ball the same day.
“It’s a good program,” Fields told TheBigSpur, after South Carolina offered. “And it’s a good program that the fans love the team. The fans show a lot of support. That’s the kind of feeling I’ve bene getting from it.
“I’ve been looking at a lot of videos, just trying to get familiar with it. It just makes it seem like a good, loving environment. The people love their team.”
247Sports midland region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks likened Fields to Tim Hart, who plays for Memphis.
Adequate size and frame relative to traditional off-line linebacker role. Experience in multiple linebacker roles and could provide personnel flexibility in college. Flashes encouraging pursuit ability, both downhill and sideline to sideline. Instinctive player with good sense of timing as a blitzer.
Good ball skills relative to position. Athletic enough to play in space and hold his own when dropping in coverage. Must continue adding bulk and strength. Can improve pad level and body control. Often hits targets too high. Athleticism lacks context in combine testing or track perspective. Power 5-caliber linebacker prospect with potential to become quality starter.
As a senior, Fields had 98 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
