Former South Carolina Gamecocks defensive lineman Byron Jerideau could be joining Shane Beamer’s staff.
FootballScoop’s John Brice tweeted that Jerideau would serve in a role similar to the one he holds at Tennessee. Jerideau has been the Volunteers’ assistant director of sports performance since 2018.

Jerideau, who played for the Gamecocks from 2010-12, worked in the program’s strength and condoning department from 2016-17. He made stops at Houston and Appalachian State, before Will Muschamp and Jeff Dillman hired him at South Carolina.
During his playing career, Jerideau had a maximum squat of 675 pounds and his highest bench press number was 500. He finished with 57 career tackles.
Jerideau, a Colleton (S.C.) County High School graduate, received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. His college career also included a one-year stop at Fort Scott Community College.
From Tennessee’s official website…
On a personal level, Jerideau demands equally as dedicated efforts from the student-athletes he trains, but he balances that by fostering strong relationships through open and honest communication. He aims to make the weight room a high energy, positive space for both the student-athletes and his colleagues.
On Sunday, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer officially named Luke Day as the director of strength and conditioning.
