Golden Nuggets: Don’t rule out Saleh signing one of the 49ers offensive free agents – Niners Nation

If you’re wondering why the 49ers haven’t announced the coaching moves that have taken place, I believe San Francisco must interview an external candidate who is a minority, per the Rooney Rule. That would be the only explanation I could think of as to why there hasn’t been any word from the official team page.

Jets hoping Robert Saleh will resolve team’s identity crisis

“The biggest influence I took from coach Carroll is from a philosophy standpoint,” Saleh said, according to ESPN. “Understanding who you are as a person. Understanding what’s important to you as a person. And, how to apply it to the message that you’re trying to deliver. Understanding that everybody has a style and that every style is the right style provided you apply it in the right way. So, just from a philosophy standpoint, speaking to people, handling people is where I have my greatest growth from coach Carroll.”

Deshaun Watson Comments on 49ers’ IG Fan Page Showing QB in Joe Montana Jersey

San Francisco 49ers fans dreaming of Deshaun Watson potentially being traded to the team have more fuel to throw on their hypothetical fire.

After a Niners fan page posted a picture on Instagram of Watson wearing a Joe Montana jersey, the Houston Texans star replied with a comment:

There are reports that Watson is unhappy with the Texans organization right now. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the three-time Pro Bowler was “furious” with the team’s decision to hire Nick Caserio as general manager.

San Francisco has been mentioned as an ideal landing spot for Watson if he wants to move on from the Texans. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is one of the best offensive minds in the NFL, and the 49ers can move on from Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason with minimal salary-cap implications.

5 free agents SF 49ers can purge from NFC West teams in 2021

It’s possible the SF 49ers are forced to move on from oft-injured EDGE Dee Ford this offseason, generating a lot of dead money but freeing up some cap space to at least get someone on the field who can play a full 16-game season.

In addition to the lack of pass-rushing depth behind fellow EDGE Nick Bosa, the Niners could afford to look at a reclamation project, of sorts, not unlike how they did with EDGE Kerry Hyder in 2020 when he led the team with 8.5 sacks.

Hyder could be a tough re-sign coming off a career year.

Instead, one target is Cardinals EDGE Markus Golden, who reached double-digit sacks twice in his career, first with Arizona back in 2016 and then again with the NY Giants in 2019.

How Saleh’s Darnold decision could impact 49ers, 2021 draft

“Here’s what I would expect the New York Jets to do at quarterback this upcoming season,” Schefter said on “SportsCenter” on Thursday night. “I would think that Sam Darnold is going to return as the Jets’ quarterback and the Jets will entertain offers for the No. 2 pick. I think they could take an offensive tackle, they could take a wide receiver, they could do whatever they want with that pick. But right now, I think the plan would be to proceed with Sam Darnold as the quarterback of the New York Jets in 2021. I think [Jets general manager] Joe Douglas and this staff believes in him, I think Robert Saleh believes in him and I think that they’d like to give Sam Darnold the opportunity fo a full season, when he’s healthy, with a new staff to see what he can do. I would be surprised if Sam Darnold were not the starting quarterback for the Jets on Opening Day.”

Nine 49ers free agents Robert Saleh, Jets could target for …

Kyle Juszczyk made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons with the 49ers. Because of his versatility and skills, the 49ers deployed the fullback position more than any other team in the league.

The 49ers are likely to be holding onto Mike McDaniel, the brainpower behind the team’s varied running attack. But LaFleur can be expected to install a similar offense with the Jets. He could use a fullback such as Juzczyk.

Juszczyk has to be one of the 49ers’ top priorities to re-sign, but the Jets can be expected to have significant interest, too.
