Blue Jackets on the verge of trading a disgruntled center – The Athletic

COLUMBUS, Ohio — It took only five games and one last dust-up with coach John Tortorella for Pierre-Luc Dubois to get his wish.

The Blue Jackets are on the verge of trading their disgruntled  No. 1 center, sources told The Athletic late Friday, a deal that is likely to be consummated this weekend, perhaps as soon as Saturday.

The Winnipeg Jets are believed to be the front-runners for Dubois, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger, but the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and perhaps one other club are also in the mix.

The Blue Jackets informed Dubois that he would be a healthy scratch for Saturday’s 2 p.m. game against Tampa Bay in Nationwide Arena, provided he’s still on the roster at puck drop. This move isn’t punitive after his lengthy benching Thursday but rather about protecting assets.

Dubois has almost certainly played his last game for the Blue Jackets.

The Jets and Blue Jackets have seemed like obvious…
