Deshaun Watson reportedly prefers trade to Jets – New York Post

Go ahead, Jets fans. Dream big — Deshaun Watson big.

The disgruntled Pro Bowl quarterback reportedly has the Jets atop his wish list followed by the rival Dolphins, according to the Miami Herald.

Watson, a 25-year-old star, has grown disenchanted with the Texans and owns a no-trade clause, which gives him power over his next stop. The Miami Herald reported Watson is enamored with new Jets coach Robert Saleh, and wanted the Texans to target the former 49ers defensive coordinator for their vacant head-coaching position.

Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, is said to be upset with the Texans because after initially being promised he would be part of their hiring process for their new general manager, his input was mostly ignored. The team ultimately hired former Patriots executive Nick Caserio. Watson also was angered last year when the Texans traded his top target, DeAndre Hopkins, to the Cardinals.

49ers cornerback Richard Sherman applauded the Jets’ hire of Saleh, and told Watson he should push the Texans to trade him there.

“I’d get out of there as quickly as possible, I’d head to New York,” Sherman said recently on the Cris Collinsworth podcast.

This report is the latest example of Watson’s potential desire to play for the Jets. The Texans star’s official Instagram account liked a picture of The Post’s back page from Monday that said the Jets should do “Whatever It Takes” to acquire the quarterback.

Watson also has been in the area, attending a Brooklyn Nets game last week, and is said to be friendly with Kevin Durant.

The Jets had the chance to draft Watson out of Clemson in 2017 but took safety Jamal Adams instead at No. 6. Watson fell all the way to the Texans at No. 12.
