Pokémon Go now has its first level 50 trainer, a feat that requires intense dedication and grinding.
FleeceKing streamed his level up on Monday via Twitch, showcasing himself as the first level 50 player in the game, with another trainer, Lauren Bertoni, following shortly after. Both Bertoni and FleeceKing hail from Australia.

Niantic increased Pokémon Go’s level cap from 40 to 50 in December 2020, though the requirements to level up included more than just gaining XP. Hard-working Pokémon Go players need to complete tasks in order to level, some of which are gated by time. A handful of players hit level 48 recently, and while grinding to 49, their progress was reset. To fix this, Niantic boosted the affected players up, completing their tasks, and bumping them to level 49.
In order to level up to 50 within the last day, FleeceKing and Bertoni had to make 999 excellent throws, catch five Legendary Pokémon, and take down three Team Go Rocket Leaders using Pokémon with 2,500 CP or less. All of these tasks are nothing to scoff at, so their hard work definitely paid off.
