Australian Pokémon Go Player Becomes First To Hit Level 50 Worldwide – Nintendo Life

It’s been nearly two months since Pokémon Go upped its level cap within the Go Beyond update. Moving from Level 40 to 50, players have had an uphill grind to reach this rank ever since, one that’s included some entanglements with UK authorities. Yesterday, it finally happened as not one, but two players finally hit this goal.

It was first achieved by FleeceKing, an Australian player who captured this moment via Twitch but it was a close fight all the way. Fellow Australian Lauren Bertoni also hit level 50 just 16 minutes later, making for a heated contest.

It came as several Go players hit level 48 but were waiting on a timed requirement to advance. Unfortunately, they all found their challenges had been reset upon reaching that level. It led to Niantic investigating and once done, Lauren’s level 49 requirements were set to completed. FleeceKing appears have to have benefitted in a similar manner, giving them a boost in the competition.

They still had to reach all the level 50 requirements, and that’s quite a tall order. This included earning a further 30m XP, achieving 999 Excellent Throws, hitting rank 10 in Go Battle League, 5 Legendary Catches from Legendary encounters in a row and 3 Team Go Rocket Leader wins using Pokémon under 2500CP. A big ask, but they eventually got there.
