The highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and UFC veteran Ben Askren will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on April 17.
The card promoted by Triller will be the first fight event to be hosted by the stadium, which typically hosts games for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and previously served as home to the Super Bowl.
There will be no public ticket sales for the Paul vs. Askren card but a limited number of fans and guests will be invited to attend the event with further details from Triller expected to be announced in the coming days. All attendees to the event will be expected to follow COVID-19 protocols as determined by the promotion and local health officials.
In addition to the location, the pay-per-view price for the card was also revealed along with the broadcast partners for the event.
Paul vs. Askren will cost $49.99 on pay-per-view with iNDemand pay-per-view handling distribution in North America along with FITE TV serving as the broadcast partner for pay-per-view internationally. International pay-per-view prices will vary based on location.
The four-hour card will kick off at 8 p.m. ET with the pay-per-view starting one later at 9 p.m. ET
“Our vision of big fights, big entertainment and world class events can only fit into a world class venue, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium fits that vision,” Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh said in a statement. “April 17th will have an element of surprise and action for everyone, from music fans to the casual and diehard fight fan.
“The way we will present the night in this state-of-the-art venue will continue to redefine consumer engagement for a global consumer, with world class partners like iNDemand and FITE joining us not just for this event, but for the others we will have in 2021 and beyond.”
The card will be headlined by Paul and Askren, who engaged in a heated war of words over social media, which led to the fight being booked by Triller.
Known best as a “social influencer,” Paul made the transition to boxing alongside his brother Logan and he’s currently amassed a 2-0 record as a professional. Most recently, Paul dispatched ex-NBA player Nate Robinson with a brutal knockout when they met as part of the Triller event headlined by an exhibition bout between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.
As for Askren, the former Bellator and ONE Champion retired from competition in 2019 but made the decision to compete again after the offer was made for the boxing match against Paul.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir is also expected to compete on the same night in a boxing match against Antonio Tarver, who will be returning to action for the first time since 2015.
The full card for the Triller Fight Club event will be announced in the coming days.
