Puka, Samson Nacua announce they’re transferring to BYU – Deseret News

The rumors will be coming to fruition.

Brothers Puka and Samson Nacua, who played high school football at Timpview and Orem, respectively, have both recently announced that they would be transferring away from Utah and Washington, respectively, and many surmised that BYU would be their ultimate destination.

On Monday evening, they separately announced on Instagram that they indeed will be heading to Provo.

Both receivers, their additions are primed to be a tremendous boon to the Cougar passing attack. Puka Nacua was one of the best receivers in the entire country his senior year of high school in 2018 before two seasons at Washington in which he tallied 16 receptions for 319 yards with three touchdowns in 11 games.

As for Samson Nacua, he played four years at Utah and totaled 82 receptions for 1,015 yards with 11 touchdowns over 45 games. He led Utah in receiving touchdowns in 2018 (five) and 2019 (four).

According to The Athletic’s Christian Caple, Puka Nacua told a Seattle radio station Monday that he was transferring to be closer to home.

The brothers will join a receiving corps at BYU that is primed to be rather stacked. The receiving leader from 2020, Dax Milne, is off to the NFL, but Gunner Romney, Neil Pau’u and tight end Isaac Rex will be back, among others.
